    1865 General Joe Wheeler QM Document/ Confederate
    Up for auction is a quartermaster receipt for the purchase of iron and corn from T.L. Vail, the Confederate subsistence agent for Mecklenburg County, NC. The items were purchased and signed by Major Napoleon John Reynolds, the QM for Col. C.C. Crews Brigade of General Joe Wheeler's Cavalry. This receipt is dated March 9, 1865, just a month before General Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox and a little over six weeks before Wheeler’s men surrendered at Greensboro, NC.
    Document measures 6 ¾” x 8 ½.”
